About Somali Civic Voice

Somali Civic Voice (SCV) is a registered public affairs and civic advocacy organization committed to confronting the systemic inequalities and governance fragilities that continue to limit Somalia’s progress toward justice, inclusivity, and stability. Established in 2021 by a diverse coalition of intellectuals, SCV was founded on a shared belief: Somalia’s transformation begins when its people—especially those historically marginalized—are informed, empowered, and meaningfully included in decision-making processes.

We stand firmly with frontline communities: women and girls, youth, persons with disabilities, children, and forcibly displaced populations. Amid recurring climate shocks, persistent conflict, and widening economic hardship, these groups bear the heaviest burdens. SCV works to disrupt cycles of
vulnerability by strengthening civic agency, amplifying local voices, and
promoting solutions grounded in dignity, rights, and resilience.

Our climate and environment initiatives champion community-driven adaptation, helping households and communities move away from negative coping mechanisms toward sustainable, locally rooted resilience strategies. We advocate for integrated, security-aware response approaches that connect short-term humanitarian action with long-term development and climate adaptation, ensuring communities are better protected today and have a more resilient future.

SCV believes sustainable peace is built on an informed and engaged public. Through accessible civic, legal, and constitutional education, we expand public understanding of governance systems, individual rights, and democratic processes—reducing tensions, countering misinformation, and
promoting dialogue over confrontation. When communities are informed and included, peace becomes possible, and stability becomes achievable.

Our advocacy centers on inclusive governance, gender justice, disability inclusion, digital safety, climate resilience, and protection from Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV). Through digital
engagement, community mobilization, research, and policy influence, we connect institutions with the voices that matter most—those of the people.

Aligned with global priorities, SCV advances SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). These goals reflect our commitment to gender equity, accountable governance, and community-led climate resilience.
